A few years ago I had the amazing opportunity to backpack across Europe with my hubby. We arrived in London on Thanksgiving day and it was COLD! Leaving the airport we didn’t have a plan so we just decided to head to the nearest metro and go from there. Once on the train we decided that the Tower of London and the Tower bridge will be our first stop. Once I caught my first glimpse of the Tower Bridge, it officially hit me that we were far from home and I loved it! I had to take a minute to bask in all of its Neo-gothic wonder. No surprise it is one of London’s most famous landmarks.

Then we headed over to the Tower of London, which was built for Henry I around 1078. Today it is more known as being a place of imprisonment. If any of you have seen or heard of the book and movie The Other Boleyn Girl, then would know that King Henry VIII sentence two of his wives to death.  Well it was on these grounds that they Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howard was executed.

The birds in the plaza were an attraction all their own. Oh and I’ve never been a huge fan of Fish and Chips but in London, IT WAS FANTASTIC!

The plane ride was a long was and we were ready to catch some Zzzzz. The next day we headed over to see Big Ben at the Palace of Westminister.

There was so much to see and do in London and unfortunately we didn’t get to spend as much time there as we’d like. The city was clean and the people were kind (and lets not forget the accent). London is definitely a very expensive town and all the attractions cost a small fortune to see but it was all worth it. I will post part 2 of my London adventure so check back soon!
